You have to be a pretty big nerd to get this one. Hint that's Captain Needa from ESB. |

Bad Photoshop: Jawas!
My niece wearing my sister's jacket. We thought she looked like a cute little Jawa, so I had to do a quick Photoshop. It's what Photoshop is famous for after all.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Mural
Erin's cousin Michael was a big fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas. So when they moved into their new home we painted a mural of Halloweentown in Michael's bedroom.
This was an all day project and I had a lot of help from the family. Special thanks to Josh Mullinax for the crisp edges on the moon and the hill.
Sad story here: Michael had a dog named Fate that would sleep in his room with him. So we painted his name on the tombstone of Jack's Ghost dog (named Zero) Unfortunately, Fate got killed by a car a couple weeks later. Good thing we did not put any other names on a tombstone. Sounds like a Goosebumps book.
Creepy.

George Harrison
I made this for my Erin's Birthday. I had to make this in secret and a little at a time so I decided stippling was a good method because I could pick up and leave whenever.
I made it on canvas, and when it was finished I decided that it needed a little something I decided to put a wash of acrylic over the top, which I think really made it a lot better.
Here is a close up so you can see how many bazillion dots it has. [Note from Erin: I love it!]

Lunar New Year
Happy Lunar New Year! Today begins the year of the dragon in the Chinese calendar. Tonight I was kept busy preparing this Lunar New Year card for AC at work. The reason the dragon is making that face is because it is meant to look like a particular satellite.

Welcome!
Hey Everyone. Welcome to my Blog. I've decided to start one for a couple reasons. One, It might help me be motivated to create artwork, so that I can share it. The other is that I do a lot of random creative projects that don't fit on my portfolio site. (www.markelwood.com)
I figured a blog would be a good way to keep track of them. I've decided to post old projects at first, then hopefully I'll keep it up. Hope you enjoy!
FoodArt: Game Boy Cake
Birthday Party for Josh! He likes retro Nintendo so we made him a Game Boy cake! It was pretty simple really. We cut off one corner of a cake, frosted with white and grey and used candy for the buttons. We used a food marker on the frosting after chilling for a while. It worked okay. We made a mold for the screen, and pored in the melted sugar. The only problem was that we were using a crappy pot, which flecked all over in the sugar... Gross. But too late to go back. Next time.
